Policies & Consent
Nature of Services
Clinical herbal care may include education and recommendations related to botanical medicine, nutrition, lifestyle practices, and wellness support. Recommendations may include herbal teas, tinctures, capsules, topical preparations, dietary guidance, and general health-supportive strategies.
Services are educational and wellness-oriented and are provided within the practitioner's scope of practice. Clinical herbal care is intended to support overall wellbeing and informed, collaborative care.
Scope of Practice
Megan McDonough provides clinical herbal services as a clinical herbal practitioner. She is not acting as a Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or other regulated primary care provider, and she does not diagnose disease, prescribe pharmaceutical drugs, or provide emergency medical care.
Herbal consultations are not a substitute for primary medical care, specialist care, diagnosis, or urgent medical attention. If a client's needs fall outside the practitioner's scope of practice, referral to an appropriate regulated health professional may be recommended.
Disclosure & Recommendations
Recommendations are based on the information a client chooses to provide, including health history, symptoms, goals, medications, supplements, allergies, and other relevant concerns. Complete and accurate disclosure is important so that care can be provided as safely and appropriately as possible.
Clients are responsible for informing the practitioner of any significant health updates, including new diagnoses, changes in medication or supplement use, pregnancy status, allergies, or reactions to products. Health care decisions remain the responsibility of the client.
Possible Benefits & Risks
Potential benefits of clinical herbal care may include support for general wellness, symptom management, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle change. Outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and individual responses to herbs, supplements, and dietary changes may vary.
Possible risks may include digestive upset, allergic or sensitivity reactions, temporary aggravation of symptoms, herb-drug interactions, herb-supplement interactions, herb-condition interactions, or unwanted effects if products are not used as directed.
If a client experiences a concerning or unexpected reaction, the client should stop the product unless otherwise advised and seek appropriate medical care when needed. Clients are asked to notify the practice as soon as possible about any unexpected effects or adverse reactions.
Privacy
Personal health information will be collected, used, and stored for clinical and administrative purposes related to care. Information will be kept confidential and will not be shared without consent except where disclosure is required or permitted by law, or where there is a legal, ethical, or safety obligation to do so.
Email and other electronic communication may be used for scheduling, follow-up, and general care-related communication. While reasonable steps are taken to protect privacy, no electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure, and by signing this form the client consents to communication through standard electronic methods.
Fees & Etiquette
Consultation fees and the cost of herbal products are the client's responsibility unless otherwise stated. Payment is required at the time of service, and a valid credit card may be required to hold appointments.
Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated. Pricing may change from time to time, and current fees, package offers, or promotional terms will be communicated through the practice website, booking platform, or other current practice materials.
At least 24 hours' notice is requested for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the consultation fee and missed appointments or no-shows may be charged 100% of the consultation fee to the payment method on file.
The practitioner reserves the right to decline, pause, or discontinue services where care is outside scope, no longer clinically appropriate, or where respectful working agreements cannot be maintained.
